How are you doing with music? Do you love music… hate music… or you just don’t care?
I personally love music and everything it represents! The rhythm, the beat, the sound of instruments, the singing voice, the lyrics…
No wonder – as a kid I used to roll up the carpet of our living room, put up music and imagined I was a world star singer (without a real voice though) :-).
So I was getting really wild when it came to hearing music, anywhere, in any format… but it was far more than that!
Has it ever happened to you that you had a problem and you heard a piece of music that talked just about that topic?
Or even gave you an answer for your issue?
Such synchronicities happen when you have an open mind, a clearly formulated question and are feeling in flow.
Synchronicities happen when you have an open mind, and a clearly formulated question. Click To TweetThe term synchronicity was first introduced by psychologist Carl Jung and means meaningful coincidence, where there’s no casual relationship between the two events or experience, yet, they seem to be meaningfully related.
Songs talked me in such a way several times in my life, helping me out from deep emotional holes.
I was 19 when I quit my fiancé, followed by a year-long depression. I was at college and I managed to alienate all of my friends.
After a while, I was totally alone!
And it was then that I was walking on the street one day and I heard it!
“I will survive“, sang by Gloria Gaynor.
“At first I was afraid, I was petrified,
Kept thinking I could never live without you by my side.
But then I spent so many nights thinking how you did me wrong,
And I grew strong, and I learned how to get along…”
Or the refrain:
“I will survive.
Oh, as long as I know how to love I know I’ll stay alive.
I’ve got all my life to live.
I’ve got all my love to give.
And I’ll survive…”
And suddenly it struck me – that girl who “used to cry but now I hold my head up high” was me!
And I wiped down my tears and held my head up high.
And never looked back!
That song literally saved my life.
What messages did you get from songs? Do this little game! Click To TweetFast forward to now. Nine months ago I was diagnosed with cancer.
Within a week, I had surgery and chemotherapy was started.
I felt miserable.
I didn’t want to live.
That was not what I signed up for! Having a life of a zombie, sitting in the living room and looking at the ceiling the whole day, not being able to do anything more intellectually because of the side effects of the treatment.
And that’s when I heard:
“I can hear the birds
I can see them fly
I can see the sky.”
(Kadebostany – Castle in the Snow)
And that’s when gratitude hit me.
I realized how grateful I was that I was still alive and had the opportunity to kick cancer’s ass (which I did), while others are not that fortunate.
I still listen to this song when feeling under the weather sometimes…
So now it’s your turn –
